BRUNOPOLIS - an acoustic time travel

Brunopolis, developed by Thomas Koch, is an artistic, auditive going-back in history based on a research about Braunschweig’s urban development of particularly the 15th and 16th century. It is not the factually and temporally exact reproduction of information standing in the focus, but rather an activation and sensual perception of historical events at their original sites.

With the help of new techniques for audio recording and postproduction it is possible to have the listener experience a three-dimensional, realistic sound environment instead of having a conventional headphone-situation where the listener hears a story only ‘between’ his ears.

Thus it is possible to sit on a bench at Friedrich-Wilhelm-Straße and to go on an acoustic journey through time and find oneself in the 16th century. Opens internal link in current windowmore
